Junior Classes
Our junior
section is growing rapidly. We now have many youngsters aged 8 to
16 who are coached for their Mon grades by Huw Jones, and Siān
Hamilton. The junior
players vary in experience, the majority are relative novices but we have a few
experienced juniors who have been training for a few years and have competition experience
which they can pass on to the novices. Many of our novices are showing considerable
potential and we have a competitive fighting squad.
Juniors practicing technique
Judo for kids is a fun way to develop the principles of discipline, self confidence and fitness. Once bitten by the Judo bug many juniors keep a lifelong interest and use the sport to maintain their fitness into their adult life. Remember, Judo is an Olympic sport, you never know !!!! The Junior class starts at 6.30pm and finishes at about 7.30pm. The cost is £ 3.00 which covers the hire of the facility and pays for membership of the governing body etc. Our club is non-profit making organisation, none of its officers are paid and any club profit is spent on the members. Our junior section has been extremely successful over the past 10 years or so. We have won medals of all colours in the Welsh championships and have had many squad members at representative level. Special NeedsChildren and young people regardless of their abilities are invited to take part in Judo and although some special need youngsters can be mainstreamed to fight able bodied youngsters there is also a Special Needs Welsh Squad WISP run by Mr. Ray Court who can be contacted via EGH. We have at present three or four special needs youngsters attending the club and their contributions are most valuable.
